DRBD is for high-availability clusters with sub-minute failover and synchronous replication. It is not suitable for server-to-desktop file replication, let alone two-way. rsync has some painful deficiencies when it comes to lots of files being synced on a frequent basis. Csync2 (http://oss.linbit.com/csync2) addresses some of those; it may be more useful for the usage scenario described.
