  1. Is the bar set that low? on House Narrowly Avoids Having to Debate Impeachment of Cheney · · Score: 1

While I'm not a huge Kucinich supporter, at least he tried. Clinton was impeached for lying about a matter that had no influence over the American people. It was a personal matter that should have been dealt with within his family and no one else. Granted, it took place in the oval office, but it had no effect on the average citizen.

So why is it that he had to go on national television and apologize for something that, in comparison to what's happened during the Bush administration, was trivial? President Bush has most definitely lied about things far worse than Clinton ever did. Cheney, Rove, that entire administration have completely gone behind the American people's back to execute their own agenda, at the expense of American lives and the credibility of our nation. And where's the justice? Where's, at the very least, the effort? Why is it that he's been allowed to run wild, ignore the rights and liberties set forth by the Constitution, turn his nose at the Geneva Convention, and nothing happens? Where's his press conference apologizing for the lies he's told? In my opinion, impeachment (not expulsion from the office, I understand the difference) should happen at the very least. At least it would be on record in the history books that an effort was made to hold this President accountable for his actions. I don't blame republicans, I don't blame democrats. I blame our government for taking advantage of us, and I blame the people for letting it happen.

So you know what, as futile as it may be, hats off to those who at least tried to hold this President accountable for his actions.

  2. Leave it alone... on Halo Movie Is Still Dead · · Score: 1

Halo is best told as an interactive story via a screen and controller, not a movie theater. Too many games get completely destroyed when going to the big screen (See: Doom, Alone in the Dark). Rarely do video games made about movies work, so why do we always think the opposite is a good idea? Don't print the Mona Lisa on a postcard and expect to preserve the same artistic quality. And besides, you know in the hands of Peter Jackson this movie will end up being 4 hours long, and we won't even see the Master Chief until the 2:45 mark anyway. Stop production, cut your losses, and walk away from this one. Please. Unless Willem Defoe's in it. In that case, I take it all back. Go for it.

  3. Isn't that the point of technology.... on Is Web 2.0 A Bigger Threat Than Outsourcing? · · Score: 2, Informative

... to evolve and replace the more mundane tasks of our lives with efficient and reliable solutions? I'm a firm believer that in this field, regardless of your specialty (sys admin, programmer, dba, etc...), it's always better to embrace new technology than to shun it. Learn something new. Find out how it can make your job easier, or if it even pertains to your job at all. With knowledge, comes power. Knowing these technologies, how to implement them, and their strengths and weaknesses will only make you more valuable not only in your current job, but in the market. It's not the technology's fault that you couldn't keep up with the field.

Having said that, this is just another case where buzzwords + major assumptions = the IT chicken littles running around screaming about the sky falling.
