The only argument they have is "it's her body" and "republicans in our bedroom" and other meaningless drivel. They can't actually answer the hard questions.

I guess we draw the line at the level of complexity

I draw the line at "is anybody actually suffering ?" Well, baby itself doesn't care, and nobody else knows the baby. So, I think it's fair if we leave the decision to the mother.

A baby "doesn't care" an hour after its birth either. Are those ones still fair game?

  6. That's why I stopped reading certain authors. Their books were "this poor guy is picked on because he's gay, and that's not fair, so let's make him the hero fighting for the girl -- oh, I mean the boy -- oh, wait, I mean ... uh ... for .. uh ... justice. Yeah, that's it, he's fighting for justice with his boyfriend ... uh ... I mean his companion".

One book I read a while ago handled "the gay issue" much better. There was a group of people on a ship/research station. One was gay, and liked to give blow jobs. Another guy was not gay, but liked getting blow jobs. No big deal, and no cause for fight for, just the way people are.

I voted for her last time. I don't keep up on these things, so didn't know if she is the candidate again this year.

When I told folks on another forum board who I voted for, the hard-core lefties couldn't believe that I voted for the same person they did. They thought our views were totally opposed. :^)

  8. I didn't claim I was "well-oriented" on it. I said I read up on it long ago. As in, deeper than the talking points Alomex alluded to. But is it not worth wasting memory cells to keep it in mind, just to appease internet trolls like yourself.

  9. I read up on Whitewater years ago, more than just the talking points. If you think the events around Whitewater are just "a lie big enough" you are the one harking to talking points.

  12. So, I assume you never change the radio station while moving. Or take a drink of coffee/soda. Or speak to someone in the back seat.

Driving distracted is a fact of life on the road. If you can't drive safely while glancing at a phone, you can't drive safely while changing the AC controls either.

Personally, I'm fine with taking all distractions out of cars, literally. Just leave the steering wheel, pedals, and controls for lights, blinkers, and wipers. Remove everything else, so idiots like you will shut the hell up about "distracted driving", as if it was just invented at the same time as smartphones.

  13. I look at my phone a lot while I'm driving. Since it has a GPS function, that isn't surprising. Nor is it illegal.

    Facepalm yourself there.

When we see a planet transit in front of its star, we see it on a path from one edge of the star to the other. For the Earth, your laser that simply points "away from the sun" would only hide our planet at one point on the path of its transit. And that only if the aliens were situated at a point that is on the plane of our orbit.

At the worst, Nova Express would simply have to explain that he meant "in all directions away from the sun at all times". Maybe he assumed readers would pick up on that limitation on their own.

Personally, I find that particular argument to be a wasteful distraction. I'm pro-Second Amendment, I learned the proper terminology while in the military, and I don't think it matters a bit in any discussion about guns or the rights we have. Might as well argue about the correct word to describe the liquid fuel used by automobiles and other vehicles.
