It's a conspiracy, hear me out before you think I'm off my rocker.
"Sun" has 3 letters, so does "SCO" and "Joy". "Bill" is also the name of
some guy at Microsoft.
SCO claims it is making no money (0), there are eight letters in "MICROS~1"
(8) and SCO thinks they are the sole owner of UNIX and Linux (1). Apply those
numbers to SUN:
rot0 S == S
rot8 U == C
rot1 N == O
That's not all; note how SCO and Sun both start with "S" which looks a lot
like a dollar sign? What is the 3rd letter from the right in "MICROS~1"?
An "S". 3 companies with "S" in their names, third letter from the right is
an "S". S looks like a dollar sign.. you know the inevitable conclusion..
The above facts speak for themselves: Bill Joy is in the pockets of
SCO and Microsoft. He's leaving Sun to enjoy his millions of ill-gotten gain.
Don't even think of getting me going on SGI in the equation.
Super move RIAA: attack children. This will certainly endear you to the
masses. They must be millipedes to have all these feet they keep shooting
themselves in.
OK, cheap shots aside; what will this lawsuit serve? They obviously know
they won't get much money, if any, from a girl living in a city's subsidized
housing system. This is nothing more than a tactic designed to instill fear
into file-sharers, call it an attempt at Social Engineering.
Says Microsoft.:) These types of sandbag-studies are directed at PHBs with a bit of technical knowledge, even if that knowledge is just having heard the word "Linux". Mindshare is a valuable commodity and by creating a slanted study such as this they take a shot at Sun and Linux in one fell swoop.
MS knows they haven't a chance at swaying anyone with half a clue, but unfortunately most of the people that sign the cheques don't.
(from the article:)
The study compared applications built to run over the Internet
on Microsoft's.NET platform to applications developed with
J2EE, a development platform backed by Sun Microsystems
Inc. favored by the Linux community.
That speaks volumes: the study is aiming at J2EE and Sun. Granted
these are the "certain circumstances" mentioned but MS is taking direct aim
at its diminishing server market share with this. They know the desktop is
still pretty much a lock-in for the time being.
Here's a clue: don't trust studies. They are generally paid for by people
with agendas.
We would be very blessed to have our best students attend your Nuclear School. Our people need this nuclear information to produce power so that we may destroy western infidels^W^W our dependence on fossil fuels while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
As I understand it all those "10-10-$NUM" services you see advertised on the television all use VoIP. My 5 cent (CA$) long distance (to.CA and.US) I get on my cell is VoIP. It's just 'old skool' wanting to protect their virtual monopoly.
Compared to the earlier-mid parts of the 20th century, we see science all around us. Medical breakthroughs, technological innovations, etc.
We used to have to wait decades for great discoveries. Now they theorize and prove within short years. Fantasy brings people into a world that can't exist. Sci-Fi stories may one day be true and aren't as escapist.
Not necessary, at least not right off the bat. Recall that iTunes is Mac only and is raking in the cash. Catering to the Windows-only crowd is a very safe bet.. as distasteful as that may be.
Sorry, I tried to watch it but I just didn't like it. I could appreciate the concept but it wasn't something I could go see at a theatre. It was sort of like a bastard mix of Starhunter and an hour long Skol ad.
If you paid taxes, you probably already donated something to her.
I'm not a US citizen so my tax money is irrelevant.
If Brianna set up a PayPal account to take donations I'd gladly throw her and her mom a few bucks to help cover the cost of RIAA's shakedown.
She might even make a few bucks over the top to buy blank CDRs with.
Funny, many people ragged on Theo de Raadt when he said "I try to convince myself that our grant means a half of a cruise missile doesn't get built." Yes these scientists are being painted as super-duper people with minty-fresh breath because they seemingly have some of the same convictions.
Here you go, with video.

September 10, 1945 at 08:02: "Darl McBride Sr. claims he owns the moth."
September 10, 1945 at 23:53: "We snuck into Darl's room and put his hand in a bucket of warm water."
September 11, 1945 at 09:46: "Darl gets to work late but is proud to show us 'his' new bucket. We all hate him."

The early distributions ran on machines as small as 386's with 2-4 MB of RAM, so these could be fun ways to resurrect ancient hardware.
I certainly hope no one intends on putting these old versions on the net lest they become a w4r3z server or DDoS drone..

Last 12 frames of the ad, bottom left "Linux is (C) SCO and used without permission."
naw, I made that up.
Republicans are too dumb to figure out this stuff and Democrats are too honest to monkey with it. Leave the system as it is. :P
