With the double slit scheme you don't need a coherent light source (the 2 slits work as 2 in-phase light sources). The slits (both their thickness and distance) need to be (loosely) the wavelenght size (that meaning, with visible light, you need special slits made in film; you can do one with photographical methods I suppose, or buy one (easier:) ). If you wan't to "see" the effect happen, maybe you should try with waterwaves. The fourier transform property is used widely, and you can do amazing stuff simply with carefully painted films, like filter-out low space frequencies to have just the high-freq details etc (more commonly used to clean noise).
"I want the wm to notice that I usually minimize XMMS within a few seconds of starting it playing." HEY! That has been done! Someone (can't remember...) has released diff's for KDE Krash implemeting a neural net that would learn what you do with windows (position, size,...) and do it for you! (please check january's or december's kde-core-devel on lists.kde.org) Joao
Gnome is DOOMED!! completly dead:((( VBA? oh my god! why not Python or (the FSF way) scheme?? I didn't even know there was vb support for linux... I guess i will have to escape to BeOS... (is microsoft hand on this?? i mean, spreading vb through opensource would really solve their problem!:) Joao

You do have the other 9 fingers... (actually, 19)
