Skepticism represents a class of negative claims: that there is no possibility for evidence deciding truth (in certain contexts). Using this as an exclusionary principle is a positive claim along the lines of "We're so much smarter than you we refuse to associate with you." There are plenty of philosophical and practical reasons why a skeptic ought to be modest enough to not commit himself to such a claim.
