who cares if there's a non-BC 40 gb model, when there will be 2 BC models on the market?
if you want to save the money by buying a 40gb model, and you have ps2 games, then keep your ps2.

funny, i never noticed that the system update option on the ps3 was hard to find, nor did I find updating the system to be particularly inconvenient.
and hint:
easy way to to quit any ps3 game: hit the ps button (middle of controller). select "quit game".
