Science didn't get to where it is today by suppressing any and all dissenting opinions. The idea of "scientific consensus" is absolute nonsense. Scientists disagree about things all the time, and so they test different ideas through experiments and logic. People that preach an unbending worldview from a book aren't called scientists, they are called priests.
Dogma has no place in science.
