Yes, but it is not up to the UN to decide what the correct name of a country is. The UN is just yet another international organization on earth among thousands or millions of them. It just happens that most countries happen to be a member of UN, but it still does not give UN the power to decide some other country's name. Adhering to UN sources does not actually make ISO 3166/MA politically neutral. It makes it bias to the UN members.
Just like the ISO or the local government cannot decide what your standard name is, how Taiwan should be called should be up to the people in Taiwan.
