then maybe darwins right. There's a definate direction in evolution.

The neo-Darwinists have discussed this at some length.

Dawkins postulates that there are attractors in the morphology space that structures are more likely to form. In this way independent evolution of similar morphological features is inevitable.

    symmetry
    forward facing eyes for predators
    side facing eyes for prey

so Darwins 'direction' is somewhat fallacious in being anthropomorphic.

Increased complexity is about the only definate direction observed.

I just downloaded & played throught he Kohan Demo and my first imrpression was that it was weak.

units would not always do as I say when selected more then one at a time. Select a bunch of 'em and order an attack and some units would ride over and just stand there until you selected them individually and tell them to attack, annoying when you want to fire and forget, you go back to the battle and while one unit is getting pummelled the other is standing & watching.

On an interface gripe it let's you press buttons when that action in unavailable and yet the feedback telling you so is in another window (specifically : clicking on a blacksmith's while already building something and you are presented with "iron export" button which you can press which feels like it's happening but you get a "can't do this while already building" message in your status window. caught me out for a while until I noticed what was happening.)

Little things like this in a demo certainly don't encourage me to buy the thing, it might be more annoying in the full.

embedded applications are all over the place.

produces like Inferno or embedded linux aren't new kids they are mature systems.

the problem is software I'm afraid.

a good little web browsing box needs a good little web browser.

Inferno has Charon (based on NS3) and embedded linux has all the linux browsers.

Those determined enough can live with the hairyness but sit it on top of the tv for the kids and be prepared for "dad/mum/guardian the computer's gone funny" at least once an hour. (and that's from experience)

We're stuck with the saddest legacy of the behemoth.

They day you build the terminator program it go back in time and get IBM to choose a diff OS for it's PC and see how that one panned out.

We need a pantheon not mono-deity.
