Why what you say might very well be true, it doesn't say anything about the previous person's statement. Most of the general population are also not skilled programmers.
He (I assume) was saying that cracking does not strongly correlate to programming skills, not that it correlates more or less than some other activity.
Most of the crackers I've talked to are what the BBS world used to call ruggies, or rugrats. About 1-5% of them may, someday, grow up to be skilled programmers. Most people with the knowledge to develop new cracking techniques are also grown up enough not to use it.
The website is purposely confusing. The movie itself is confusing. Ostensibly the movie is about a brilliant mathematician's drive to solve a very hard, or even impossible problem. There are a lot of layers and twists though. I've been told that it's strongly reminiscent of a David Lynch movie.
Does anybody think there's a Godel string for the human mind?:-)
Everybody seems to be saying that the K7 is going to Alpha's bus and board architecture. I'm not up enough on this kind of thing to be able to say much about that, but it seems like a good idea since the Alpha runs in the range that x86 style processors are now starting to reach.
Why would anybody want Socket 7 anyway? It mostly seemed to me that Socket 7 was what the K6 did because Intel locked them out of the Slot 1 market. If they've found a nice new bus architecture that works better and supports PCI, I say go for it.
Is anybody interesting in explaining the differences between EV6 (Alpha's bus?) and Slot 1? Is the question even relevant anymore?

You're right, but I think better acting and better writing would've detracted from the movie. Some movies just aren't about their plots.

I had the same feeling... that I had to build something.
It was kind of screwed up though once I started talking to people. Social interaction and intense, obsessive drive don't mix well.
The soundtrack is still one of my favorites when I am building something.
Did Intel give up on Slot 1 finally?
