Does this mean that I can have a personal ray gun now? 'Course there's the waiting period. Then the arguments of whether it's for hunting or not. That, of course, begs the question, "Do lasers kill people, or do people kill people?"
I think I'll just go back and lie on my couch now.
The college I teach at has thier Business and Information Systems Management (yeah, stupid major, but that's a whole separate rant) taking programming classes. If there were more books like this, it might be a little easier to teach programming to them.
It was a PHONE interview. You've never rambled on the phone? I know I do all the time. Ramble, get distracted, forget to finish sentences. Typed communications, on the other hand, can be sliced, diced, thrown away, re-done, etc. before they are put out for digestion. (What do you think the/. preview button is for!?!)
I thought that: a)It was very kind of Lars to take time to answer our questions and b)It was good to hear that the band IS open to suggestion and NOT locked into one mindset. It takes a pretty big (intellectually) person to understand that some issues are bigger than you first realized and that it is NOT a weinie thing to do to change one's mind.
After reading this interview, I can't really fault Metallica at all for the position they have taken.
is how it could have been incorectly marked when it had to be marked that way to allow operation of the "Show Me" function.
This is like a boss I used to have who would spew statements all day long that made no sense to anyone but himself. When asked what he meant by that, he always replied "That's not what I said."
More recently, on The Tick, that Chair guy tried to carve his name (I think) into the moon but Tick ended up carving something else instead. I wish I could remember what it was 'cause it was pretty funny.
I'll admit, I had no idea (still don't) know how my cable company (roadrunner) limits thier user bandwidth (anyone know?). But this dummynet thing is just too cool.
If most of the argument on the colleges side of the story has to do with bandwidth usage, why not limit bandwidth to each host from the external network? My cable company does this to me and all of thier other customers on a continual basis. If the schools could come up with a way to do this, it wouldn't matter what the students were doing on line; they would only have a limited pipe to do it with. Problem solved.
We all have seen the comments like "what about VCR's?" I know someone had to bring this argument up in the trial. What I would like to see is the prosecution's responses to arguments like that.
Yeah, one way now, what about later? That's a pretty pessimistic view to take; "It only works one way. What a piece of junk." The cool thing here is that they've managed to feed input directly to the brain; without killing the subject (anyone have any info on the general well-being of 'Jerry'?).
Somebody wants to start experementing with 'jacking' into computer systems, I'm there man.

Wasn't it illegal in the US at one point?
I remeber growing up to the 'Our Product vs brand X' commercials and wondering why we never saw brand X at the grocery store.
He could barely write a complete sentence.

What I don't get
incorrectly marked as "safe for scripting"
is how it could have been incorectly marked when it had to be marked that way to allow operation of the "Show Me" function.

Sheesh.
what exactly would Microsoft have to gain?
You're ruining the communal paranoia feelings here.
I remember that (unfortunately).

I got mine at pricewatch. Just did a search for the G400. I'm very happy with what I got for the price ($139 three months ago).
OK, who's going to port this to Linux!?

Thanks for the info Brian!

Gosh I like being right.
I'd like to see BOTH side's arguments.
