    As far as I can tell, voters roundly rejected authoritarian Democrats this time around. The only ones that survived are the ones located in authoritarian strongholds like San Francisco and strongly gerrymandered districts.

    Yes, well, the fact is 98%, and in the house, 100% of the voters disagree. You have authoritarian democrats because they win elections. And the republicans, well, hey, they fell off the truck in '68 (really just after '64), but they still win... People are authoritarian, and if they think they have power, they will abuse it, just like those who actually do, and they vote likewise. The numbers are there in black and white.

    Is this English?

    How Orwellian. I never liked Newspeak. Liberal has a latin root that is clearly and simply defined. Concepts and policies can either be of that root, or outside of it. Liberal and authoritarian are opposite ideologies, and always will be.

    That's just silly. We can honor them all day long. But they are not martyrs. Martyr is a word that has a specific meaning. I'm not disagreeing that they died doing something important. They would certainly fall into the hero category.

    You completely missed the point. You criticize a Christian claiming the world is 6,000 years old, yet are afraid to criticize a muslim who cuts the head off a child because her sect does not agree with his. I don't feel persecuted. I am an atheist. But I am fearful of this new-fascism that the left is embracing.

    It's not atheism new or otherwise. It's simply anti-christianism. You never hear these people criticizing any other religions, many of which have beliefs that are much nuttier than anything in Christianity. They hate Christianity because it is part of the American national identity.

    Wages won't pay for themselves - those increases WILL be passed on to consumers.

    ... or the increases could be taken out of corporate profits, shareholder payouts, CEO compensation, etc.

    It's not clear to me why these alternatives are never considered. (Actually, it is pretty clear -- because the people in power like money and would rather keep more of it for themselves)

    Yes and we could also elect a dictator who would set price controls and order stores to sell certain items. It worked great in Venezuela.

    I think it would probably do you some good to watch fox news occasionally. Then you wouldn't be so ignorant and you might be able to actually make an argument about why fox news talking points are incorrect, and what those fox news talking points actually are.

    I see. People who disagree with you have no empathy. Did it ever occur to you that people who oppose raising the minimum wage are doing so because they see it as a benefit to society in general? I am instantly suspicious of anybody who has to cast there opponents in an evil light in order to make an argument.
