  1. Re:Learn to drive. on Auto Safety Tech May Encourage Dangerous Driving · · Score: 0

This, this, and more this. The problem isn't the car's comfort and safety features, it's the moron behind the wheel who has no idea how to drive properly and no idea how to react in a dangerous situation. We give out drivers licenses like they're candy in this country. It's no wonder so many teens die in car wrecks... and kill other innocent drivers. They have maybe a couple of months rolling around their safe little neighborhoods with Mom or Dad in the car and no real preparation for what the road can throw at you. This article is worthless, basically. Driver education is the issue here... not car design.

  2. Facebook apps = bad on The State Of Grayware On the PC · · Score: 2, Insightful

Not only are some of these apps extremely annoying, including advertisements next to games and etc, its now very common for them to use incentives (eg extra levels or whatever) to get people to invite all their friends to the application. facebook's devs addressed it in a blog post but it remains a problem. the whole system looked bad from the start, so i personally reject all applications that aren't facebook related. even so, its to the point now where i'm thinking of shutting down my account.

  3. Re:So why is this news again...? on Facebook Sharing Too Much Personal Data With Application Developers · · Score: 1

Mod parent up. This is not news, this is fud. Every user who adds an application on facebook receives a prompt with a checkbox, and it says "Allow this application to... [checkbox] Know who I am and access my information ....[more options]" If you uncheck the box, Facebook says: "Granting access to information is required to add applications. If you are not willing to grant access to your information, do not add this application." If at this point you check it anyway, you should damn well know that this application has all your personal info. The summary is extremely misleading - there is nothing "secret" about this system.
