Visual Display of Quantitative Information is a great book and a quick read. I recommend it to anyone who has to put together any type of visual presentation. Tufte presents tons of graphical examples and breaks them all down. He presents both positive and negative examples, explaining where the negative examples falter and suggests improvements. If you are presenting any kind of data, I would highly recommend starting with this book. The way he drives concepts like information density has changed the way I look at almost any visual information and drastically improved my ability to critically examine visual information presentation.
