I attended Microsoft PDC 05 in September. The new Ribbon UI features of Office 12 are quite simply a great next step in UI. I was able to use Office at PDC, and *all* users will find the context sensitive ribbons much easier to get there work done.

Remember...
Game Designers/Developers asked Microsoft for a Hard Disk, and Ethernet. Maybe we should all think ahead a bit, and we should be creative to think about the possiblities this brings to the table for consoles...COME ON!!! If you can't think of anything that these features would be useful for then keep playing your old consoles (which of course is still fun).
Cool features of the Xbox so far...
1) Multiplayer to the max - Did you know that right now you can have 16 people play Halo simultaneously (4 Xboxs via an ethernet HUB x 4 people each). Hmmm (something we can't do now with a console).
2) You can rip your Cd's with it, store it on the Xbox, and substitute your soundtrack for the game's soundtrack. That's cool (something we can't do now).
3) Other things that may be useful in the future...a system clock...Think of a game that changes the time of day in accordance with your ACTUAL time of day! I think that'd be cool.
Come on folks...PS2 is sweet, GameCube is sweet, my Intelivision is the bomb...and I think we need to give some credit the the xbox.

XBox uses a custom NVIDIA graphics GPU. Think of something more powerful than GeForce 3. I believe they are also using NVIDIA for all the sound also. Quality.
Wow! Remember the Intellivision Game Console with it's telephone receiver-like game pads? Intellivision used to be my favorite game system with hits such as Night Stalker and Pitfall. Those were the Days.
With the embarassing Presidential struggle under way, I think the Microsoft case is going to go largely unnoticed now.
Is David Boies still involved with the appeals process regarding Microsoft? If so, I believe his roll will greatly diminish with so called "contests" being readied in Florida.
My take...Microsoft comes out of the Court of Appeals just as they would like, and there is a President Bush Part 2.
I just think the convergence of these technologies into the Operating System is a key to usability.
As I said in my previous post...this is a pretty cool feature to have 'right out of the box.'
I know it's not a technical innovation; however, it is a great innovation in the sense of user experience out of the box...a key to getting people to use and like your OS.
I wonder if the Austrailian Postal Service is feeling the same pressure that the good old USPS is feeling here in the United States...why else would a provider start to charge per e-mail sent or received?
The "heat" (in whatever form) must have been turned on on the cable provider by the Austrailian Government:) That's what I say.

Cool man. I have an Intellivision also, Thanks for sharing that link. I have about 55 games for my console.
I wonder how many of these things still exist, or are still functioning? Hmm...
I believe so.
I remember my cousins having a Colecovision and it being very similar. I don't know if the games work between both consoles because I never tried.

Whistler does have built-in Voice Recognition...this is pretty cool.

The article at PCExtremist.com mentions that the CDs will cost roughly the same amount that current CDs cost to manufacture. Hope this helps.
