Bombing Napster or putting fake Mp3's up wont stop anyone because anyone could easily listen to the first minute of the song and determine if it was a fake. I always check the song after I start downloading it to check to make sure it sounds ok. Not to mention Napster has nearly 20 million users. Whats the chances that your going to download one of these bogus songs? Not likely. You'll probably be more likely to find a crapping recording of a song before you find a bogus song. Now I have a broadband connection to the net so its easy for me to wait a minute and check if the song came out ok but I understand that the dial up users out there will have to wait longer. But if your downloading an mp3 for the last 10 minutes wouldnt you want to check if it was ok? Rather then waste the time downloading it only to find it sounds like garbage. (Remember just because its encoded at 192 doesnt mean it's cd quality) Well nuff said..

Aww but you have to remember the Judge already threw out the motion to dismiss the case on the bases that it was just a service. The reasoning the Judge had was that the sole purpose of Napster was to distribute Copywrighted songs thus it should be held accountable for what the users on the service were distributing. I believe Napster will win though. Mp3 style distribution's are here to stay. Hopefully with that 15 mill they'll hire some dam good lawyers.

This is how you unban yourself from Napster beta 6
1. You'll probably need to create a new account, so click on Start, Run, type in regedit.
2. Navigate to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Napster. On the right side of the window after you click on the Napster folder, delete the key that says "CurrentUser". Also delete any folders below the Napster folder. (i.e. click on the plus sign and remove all those folders that have usernames.)
3. Now do a search (ctl-f) for these things one at a time: 35D38C13-1434-AB7E-003483943341AA A1AD8C13-1383-5343-DCC38E43FF0AAE CAD8C813-1F34-1B3E-00CEAE43FF0AAD
Delete every instance that you find of these keys. Hit F3 to continue searching. There are about 3 or 4 instances of each of these keys.
4. Reboot your system. (just in case.) Thanks Cryptic
Do you think that sending Napster over 300,000 names to have there accounts deleated is oing to help your cause? I would think it would make a lot of your fans that trade your music online very mad at what you guys did. On top of that those fans regularly sample your music before they buy it. I my self have download Metallica Mp3's and have later bought the album since I loved what I heard. Wouldnt this act alienate the existing internet fans that you have?
I would have to agree. I work at a large chain store that sells computers and home theater equipment. No one ever asks if company A is any more socially responsible the company B. Actually most consumers go on price alone. Find the cheapest Keyboard.... who cares if it was manufactured by Slave labor or by a company that has given nothing to charity. I reall think most consumers dont care. And thats reality..
