Well, I'm not sure what all the materials are in a modern hard disc. I'd imagine that it's a non-ferromagnetic structural disc and then a bunch of thin films of various materials. And I bet there are a bunch of materials that aren't so good for you. I guess it's a matter of hard hard it is to scratch or wipe them off. Maybe I'm just paranoid...but when I opened a recent one, I was careful to wash my hands afterwards. I guess my point is that it's important to keep materials in mind when taking apart electronics.
