You assume people who use GNU/Linux are doing so for its greatness or are all technical. Some of us use it for ethical reasons or just don't know much about computers and want something that actually works! I at least partially use it so I don't have to deal with DRM and other ethical reasons. As much as I wish my parents would care they certainly aren't using it for ethical reasons. They are using it cause it works for them better than the competing platforms- ok- and support reasons.
I complained and complained and complained about my schools policies on peer-to-peer to the head of IT. This basically meant the secretary. Despite getting numerous answers they were almost entirely WRONG about the legality of peer-to-peer. What bothered me about Ruckus was the schools were promoting it and saying that the peer-to-peer had to be limited (which for all intensive purposes meant censored- since you couldn't access peer-to-peer content at all during normal hours). They then told everybody who complained to us Ruckus. The fact it was given as the solution was just wrong. It was a solution that didn't work for the majority of students-and made unethical demands (non-free software/DRM). The lawyers basically were wrong about so many things too here. I'm not a lawyer- but if you read the news and listened to what the lawyers were saying they were completely the opposite of the school's lawyer's legal opinion. The school's lawyer basically reverberated what the RIAA said. If you listened to the news and understood the technology you knew they were wrong legally. My school still says the DMCA required them to disconnect users who the RIAA claims are sharing music. Technically speaking I KNEW they were wrong. What drives me nuts is that it doesn't matter how much you complain cause when their lawyer says it's illegal it is illegal-since you can't possibly be right given your not a lawyer. Anyway. I'm glad they are gone. At least now students have one less reason to use MS Windows and those not using it are a little less discriminated against. One solution I suggested was the school could stop logging the IP addresses and then nothing would have to be done in regards to a subpoena. And legally they were never required to forward legal letters.
I think I can help. Shout off an email to tmail70 aatt errtech.com. I've got a project in the works that I'm almost certain is what you are looking for. It is still getting off the ground and a marketing person / public relations person could really help.
Too late. I already do that sort of. I have a server that I maintain and do daily backups to a gmail account automatically. I use GPG to encrypt the data in 15MB segments. I have it sent to a gmail account daily. Gmail stores up to 8GB (I think/about) and that gives me about 30 days worth of backups at any given moment. When Gmail gets the email they are sent to trash. This way after about 30 days the old stuff gets deleted automatically. It's already working pretty well. I'm in the process of using it right now to restore my server.
Anybody who wants to complain:

I informed ShopRite that I will not be making any further puchases if these carts get put into the store. I will not utilize propritary software that is being thrust into my face. It is bad enough that the store utilizes propritary software at check out and online as it is.
