Ain't that the truth. Between this, going back on his promise to accept public campaign funding and his flip-flopping on Israel/Palestine to get that big Jewish donor money, I've lost a great deal of respect for the man.
Yeah.
What a sorry individual.
Chooses TO NOT CHARGE THE TAXPAYERS FOR HIS CAMPAIGN while John McCain does exactly that.
How can he be forgiven...
--- The proceeding was sarcasm, this warning placed for those who cannot tell the difference.
I am an avid cyclist and in my experience the ONLY times I have been close to an accident have been with SUV drivers, not sports cars, not sedans, not even minivans. SUV drivers. Mostly because they are just blissfully unaware of the fact that they have significantly reduced visibility, esp. in the back and sides. However, since the SUV owners are confident that they won't get hurt in an accident they dont give a flying fuck about anyone else on the road. Fuck SUV drivers, SUVs are WMDs, plain and simple. If you have one, I think you deserve the death penalty. Get modded troll for that, but its the truth, you simply don't deserve to live. Oh go screw yourself.
If you want to peddle your ass to work, good for you. I bet you are in much better shape than I am.
But as long as YOU DON'T PAY MY GAS BILLS, I drive any fuckin' truck I choose without to much care as to what you think.
I'm so tired of people who happen to not need a motor vehicle making fun of those of us who NEED a vehicle larger than a subcompact.
I love how people think that capitalism is the bane of existence.
EVERYTHING wrong with the World that can be traced back to some capitalistic activity MUST BE because some greedy capitalist knew it all along and didn't care.
I've got news for you, almost EVERYTHING that we currently know causes some problem with the environment was at one time HAILED as the next great thing.
From (speaking just of energy) Petroleum to Coal to Nuclear, THEY ALL were hailed as the next great thing.
I'm not denying they all have faults, but this attitude that, somehow, "We knew all along they were bad but some greedy so-and-so did it anyway" makes me sick.
I LIKE BEING ABLE TO LIVE IN THE COUNTRY AND DRIVE TO WORK. I LIKE do this in a 1/2-ton pickup. I DO NOT like the fact that it only gets 20mpg, but I like walking the twenty miles to my job a lot less.
If someone (and I think they will, much sooner than people think) is able to make a truck that does everything mine does, but is completely electrically powered, AND can sell it at relatively the same price (depending on options, between $17,500 and $23,000) I would snap on up in a minute.
I don't have some great love affair with Coal, Oil, or Uranium. I don't get up in the morning saying, "Mhhh,MHHHHH! (raising my glass) To Greed!"
But, I like my truck. I LIKE the fact it has a 5.7liter 350hp engine. I LIKE dependable electricity. AND I like pornography.
(Hmm...Don't know why exactly I threw the last one in there, BTW)
It is starting to make the rounds around the foreign arab press, after the chronic drunk "dove hunter" left saudi arabia the local papers are reporting that the populations are being advised to make contingency plans for dealing with a mass radiation event. It will probably be in translated papers within a few days, outside the US press anyway.
They are going to be using tactical nukes against iran, bunker busters, letting that jenni out a second time. All bets are off once those neocon armageddon loving PNAC/AIPAC insane loons do that. They just canned the middle east theater commander, admiral fallon, because he refused to go along with a nuke attack on iran (no proof but widely reported and pretty much accepted by most analysts).
Do you honestly think the rest of the planet will stand around and wonder when their turn will come then? No way, they'll get together and do a preventative measure massive first strike against the US, before any credible anti missile defense shield goes operational in a big way. You can also kiss any economic recovery away as well, once they do that iranian smackdown, and bork straits of hormuz transit, global oil prices might hit 300 bucks a barrel, with rationing.
As to what is going down with the grunts, every one I have talked to, including a personal relative with three tours, who has direct combat experience, has atrocity stories in Iraq, and the mercs are worse because they *like it*, they are sadists. They aren't making any friends there, you waste an innocent in a family, you now have ten or more people *forever* against you. Just how it goes over there, they got long memories and blood feuds are a way of life. The entire deal is being run *precisely* to push a hundred years "clash of the civilizations", and is succeeding. Damn.
I take mild offense at that.
Most people do not realize that in small towns, most Newspapers are weeklies, not dailies. In small towns, away from the lights and cameras of CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, the weekly Newspaper is about the ONLY source for LOCAL news.
That is really the trouble. Large, daily papers keep trying be the end all and be all of "The News". IF they let people watch CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News for the "World News" and focused their attention just on their local communities (Things the Majors couldn't give a shit about), they might be surprised how their fortunes turned.
If Utilities were smart, they could use circumstances like this to push Nuclear Power.
High profile companies looking for cheap electricity. You can build a Nuclear Power Plant anywhere, not just where there's a river or lots of wind.
Some of these smaller towns and cities, who like sheep, jump on the "No Nukes" bandwagon might think differently if OG&E (I live in Oklahoma:)) could deliver a customer like Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, US Steel, Alcoa, etc. based on the promise of cheap nuclear electricity.
It has been my experience that more than anything else, rural places like JOBS. If you could attract a high profile customer to a place who, normally, wouldn't care less, Greenpeace (not really fair to pick just Greenpeace, but they are the best known anti-nuclear group) might find it very difficult to drum up support against a nuclear power plant when people can actually see how it will effect them.
ACCEPT THE UNITED STATES ALREADY POSSESSES NUCLEAR WEAPONS!
I grow so tired of this argument about reprocessing "Well we better not do it because SOMEONE might create nuclear weapons from it."
WHO!
Who exactly is going to make nuclear weapons from the nuclear waste we reprocess. The United States already possesses Nuclear Weapons and has for sometime.
There is no way in hell we're going to allow some third party to take the reprocessed waste and do anything with it.
Are you saying that we might give the idea to someone else? I hate to burst your bubble (BTW, I realize you weren't stating this as your own idea, so please do not think I'm personally attacking you) but the knowledge of Nuclear Weapon construction is available anywhere and everywhere, and it's not as hard as we would like.
I can't speak for states (which if they want the weapons bad enough they'll find a way to get them) but no individual group (i.e., terrorist, cult, etc.) is going to grow to the trouble to build any Nuclear Weapon from anything when they can go to one of the old Soviet Republics and pick up a a couple of ALREADY BUILT weapons for about the price of a V-8 Cadillac.
If we reprocessed Nuclear Waste, we would have a shadow of the amount we have now left and a place like Yucca Mountain could easily store hundreds of years worth of the small amount left over.

About $900. People do not realize how cheap newspaper grade paper is.
