I, personally, have lost all faith in Slashdot. Like so many sites now, it has sold out and reverted to producing mindless drivel for the sake of content. I just don't have the time anymore to waste on articles which are given fear-mongering headlines just to generate hits.
Anyone looking for a REAL news site might consider GeekPress (fairly technical) or NewsTrolls. (more socially oriented, but still relevant) These sites focus more on providing useful news with a objective point of view, and less on filling up space.
You keep reading the crap, they'll keep spewing it out.
You are deluding yourself. You are an atheist, you do not love and worship God out of the fullness of your heart, and therefore you, knowingly or not, worship Satan. You are immoral. I find it quite amusing that those who support your religion consider not believing in God immoral, yet they hold no regret for the damage their beliefs have done to our world over the course of history. The Crusades account for more deaths than all of the wars in all of history, combined. To put it in perspective, Christianity has killed more people than anything else. When a religion can justify killing masses of people simply for not agreeing with them, I must admit I have serious reservations about their current motives. I also find it disturbing that some people feel they can absolve their 'sins' simply because they sit in a stone building listening and singing once a week. (and on holidays) But, if your sense of morals is so handicapped that you need support on a weekly basis, then perhaps it is better that you dwell with your own. I apologize in advance for the flame-bait.
You were right to correct me on the type of weapons.
I am sure much good will come of this information, and I in no way would suggest we halt scientific progress. The worries I have are that for every disease we toil away at and manage to find a cure for, some well-funded nutcase could create another more deadly disease to take its place.
I believe it is beneficial to share this knowledge with all scientific communities, being it affects every one of us, but there should be some sort of control on the process. In the wrong hands, this information could accelerate the already alarming increase of biological weapons which threaten humanity.
Negative. Using server2 instead of server1 will get you through the detection of Glassbook software, but when you get to the eBook file, it's not there.
to know that those who are developing chemical weapons will have free access to the human genome. It will save them time and resources by circumventing that extensive messy human testing and getting right to the genocide.
