I agree completely. There is a high price to pay for early adoption. Generally the hardware is more expensive, and does not have all of the bugs worked out. We've seen this time and time again with major consumer device releases, including the XBox and the iPhone.
I think it would be nice if manufacturers would offer some kind of upgrade incentive to early adopters, like a trade value on the original hardware for consumers that are interested in upgrading to a more recent revision of the hardware after it has become more established.
