  1. Re:one reson why on Online Voting In 2004 To Require Windows · · Score: 1

Actually if you look at the next requirement:
What browsers are compatible with SERVE?
For security reasons, SERVE is only compatible with browsers with SSL 3.0 capabilities, which are listed below:

    - Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and above
    - Netscape Navigator 6.x and above

It looks like SSL 3.0 is the real requirement. Opera supports SSL 3.0 and I see no mention that is will work. Unless they check for browser rather than capability, which I see happening far too often, then it should work. They will probably check for browser and it wont though.

  3. one question though on TiVo, PVRs Not Making A Splash · · Score: 1

How would I record "Malcolm in the Middle" after teh super bowl? I have never understood how one of these could do that. By using the schedule you would only get teh hour they think the super bowl is over. It could run longer and you could miss much of the show. If the show was only a half hour you could miss the whole show.

Some of those home users might want to think twice before upgrading anyway. I have noticed the bloat in upgrading from 5.0 to 5.5 and some of those older systems don't have enough horsepower to run the extra bloat in 5.5. I noticed this on a previous job assignment and only upgraded when I needed the OS patches for win98. Many companies are still not running fast hardware.

The big problem is that most out there only see 2 parties and won't vote for anyone else even if there are better choices. I was telling my brother that the 2 major parties are pretty much the same and he said that he didn't want to throw his vote away on a third party and they didn't have a chance.

Actually since I wear glasses it would probably cause more problems as I then wouldn't be able to see where I was going as I now have water all over my glasses.

Didn't Weird Al already do this with his parody Jurassic Park? I seem to remember a purple dinosaur getting it's head bit off by a T Rex all in good old claymation.

Well just drive around Atlanta and you will find the flow of traffic goes 10mph faster than the speed limit. If you actually go the speed limit you are then impeding the flow of traffic and more of a hazard than if you are speeding. So in many cases it is actually safer going faster than the posted speed limit.

  9. Did ya notice? on New IBM Linux Notebook Includes DVD Player · · Score: 1

I just looked at this and noticed at the bottom in the Other section:
IBM recommends Windows 2000 Professional for business.
Seems kinda silly to be selling it with Linux and recommending Windows 2000.
