You know what? It really is possible for a some of a person's beliefs to clash with one another. It's not a black-and-white world - sometimes one really does have to value some things that one believes in over other things that one believes in. That's too complicated for some people, so they pretend that it is a weakness for somebody to have nuanced beliefs. Some people pretend that compromise is for the weak....

It is possible to believe in property rights and be an environmentalist. Each person just has to decide how to balance one against the other.

Bush is against X and legislates against X (including denying rights to Americans because he wants to bring religious morality back into the country). Kerry is against X as well but doesn't have any plans to do anything about it.

Or, to put it another way, Kerry doesn't personally believe in some things, but he doesn't necessarily think that his beliefs should be made the basis of the law of the land because other people should be allowed to believe differently from him. Bush wants his personal belief system to become the law of the land.

Amen, brother. When I'm at work (using my XP laptop), I'm constantly annoyed by applications stealing focus, just because I told them to do something a little while ago, and they finished (or the application finally opened, and I was using a different application while the first opened). Then the wrong application gets my keystrokes, and whatnot.

Using my Mac at home, that never (and I mean never) happens. You give an application focus? That application keeps focus. I just don't understand what's so hard about that concept that Microsoft can't implement. I guess it goes along with their general concept of "we know what the user wants better than the user does", so they try to guess which application I want to be using (instead of trusting me to give the focus to the correct application).

No, I don't concede that Michael Moore is a liar. In fact, I haven't even seen Fahrenheit 911. So it would be inappropriate for me to judge either way. What I am doing is attempting to counter the implication (I'll admit that it's unsaid) that I'm getting from a whole lot of posts that Michael Moore is engaged in unfair shenanigans that the Republicans would never consider themselves.

About a decade ago, the Republicans decided that they would do whatever it took to win (dirty or otherwise), and for the most part, the Democrats haven't done the same (and have suffered for it) (this statement will undoubtedly get several very vehement replies, but I believe that it's true). Some may view what Michael Moore is doing as leveling the playing field - I won't make that judgment because (as I said) I don't know that he's being deceptive.

You should take anything that you hear from anybody with the appropriate grain of salt. That goes for Michael Moore, John Kerry, and yes, George W Bush. I believe that you need an awfully large grain of salt with anything that W says, but that's just me.

So you're suggesting that sometimes you specify what class you want and sometimes you don't? For example:

It's nice and clear if you have to specify which constructor you want to run. I guess that some people consider it a badge of honor to produce the most confusing code possible, but some of us live in the real world where our reputation at work depends on producing code that other people can work with (rather than producing code that other people can't figure out).
