so they stamp out an 8-page paper with more authors than pages, in a journal called "Circulation" from the American Heart Association , whose slogan is Learn and Live. (Bias anyone?)

    Here is the papirus: http://circ.ahajournals.org/cgi/reprint/CIRCULATIONAHA.109.894824v1

I'm not too convinced here. Besides the obvious Duh! factor in TFP, I feel there's much more to the story and until lots and lots of follow-up studies are done I'm not convinced. Hell, these dudes are saying that you can be lean and mean (totally fit) and still have a much higher chance of death if you rest watching the F'n TV. And the numbers are STAGGERING.

I think it was Carl Sagan that used to say "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence"; correct me if I'm wrong; but one study in a journal with an obvious bias just isn't enough to scare me. Now if you'll excuse me I'll watch that rerun of last tango in paris.

One problem is framing. Take "the pirate bay" for instance. They look at the MAFIAA and tell them to stick it. The Jon Doe Homer Simpson Bozos will never support anything called the pirate bay, because he's seen on TV that it's run by pirates==terrorists==pedobear==enemies of the state.

But what if it were called "HumanCulture.Org"? It's much easier to say "I support closing the website ThePirateBay.org and jailing its criminal members" than it is to say "I support closing the website HumanCulture.org and jailing its criminal members".

Scrap the old technology, forget people scanners, just make everyone have to strip to get on the plane. That's it, no clothes past the security check point. Few will be able to easily hide anything, and it'll definitely make flying more fun. While you're at it, no carry on luggage at all. You strip at security, your clothes are put through the same xray as carry on used to be, then bagged and put on as checked luggage, you get it back after you land. I love this idea!!!

How about we repeat the exercise daily at randomly chosen airports around the globe? Screeners who miss the contraband (or allow a passenger to exit through an entry way) would be stripped of badges and ids, fired on the spot and escorted outside the airport. Passengers originating at or transiting through airports with a poor screening record would be denied entry to the US. Seriously.

Chrome Netbook Specs Stretch Believability---Interest in Google's Chrome OS is heating up with the emergence of new rumors about specs for an upcoming . The device would supposedly have a 10.1 TFT HD-ready multitouch display; 2GB RAM; and WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3G connectivity. As if that wasn't enough, this netbook would also have a 64GB solid-state drive, according to IBTimes (more on that source in a minute). By the sound of it, the Chrome OS netbook sounds like a great device, but there's only one problem: in my view these rumors aren't very believable.

It goes on from there, and I think this "news" is moot. I for one hope the 2010's will have less of this rumor frenzy on the monkeysphere.
