those are all good and likely reasons.
I'd like to make a semantic point. The satellite was not "shot down" since it was not flying like a bird, airplane or Zeppelin: it was in orbit. It might have been "shot" and shattered/destroyed and its orbit altered, but I doubt that it is "down" yet.
