I don't know about other people but personally i get sick of reading things online. There is nothing as good as reading good hard back copy. Also has any body considered the medical considerations of college students starting to read online. It would probably cause an increase in cases of carpul tunnel, bad eyesight.
I think the key is to not be limited by any Development Enviornments. Each of the known development enviornments, implement a different subset of the ANSI. You will run into snags if you use a different compiler than the rest of the class. Some of these differences are minor e.g. library files are different (which should be an easy fix) , other differences can be a real pain to track down.
My college uses CodeWarrior for windows in most classes. I personally think it does a decent job of implementing the ANSI of c++ and it also allows for quick and easy way to develop larger programs.
I personally use g++.
I dont think you should be limited by the tool avaliable to you. Once you know how to right clean and proper code, it doesnt require a genius to use a different tool ( i mean commmmmmmeeeee how difficult can it be).
Hey there has a big hype about LOL (I borrowed the acronym) and how it will be a big player in the market (mostly by people who dont crap about linux and just saying it beacuse they like the company). Personally i think it will fall flat on its face. Mainly because the finance and/or business world and the computer world have widely conflicting views. A lot of people in finance think that redhat is a great company i dont know anyone who will disagree about the quality of thier product(s). I see the same thing happening in LOL it might look like a great company (and hey it got some big weights backing it up) but the fact i am dont think i am going to switch to it.
All said and done i think it would be better to wait untill we actually starting using LOL
Hey great so nasa has this big telescope up in space and it can see numerous things which we on earth cant see (obvious reasons).
As has been with the case for the history of telescopes on earth, old and outdated telescopes have been replaced by new ones. If nasa was at all serious about the using telescopes in outer space we would have heard of plans of them building a new telescope.
The only reason i see them for maintaining hubble is because it provides nice public relations (we get to nice pretty pictures: which religious scholars get to call god..)
I mean cammme onnnn an news about hubble is old news.. We need to go the next step
I recently had some of my linux files infected by what was called a 'proto' virus. Though the virus only infected the file of that particular user, it was still a major pain to clean the files. Though *nix has a very strict file permission system, it is still a big hassle if a user on a system gets infected. Because then the sysop has to trace down who else on the system executed files of that user. And trace it down all the way. Altogether it is just a big hassle, and it would be great if some virii cleaners were avaliale for the whole system.
