Why does everyone think if you have a laptop you MUST take it home each night? Maybe the guy travels every other week to China? Still recommend the desktop? No, you are probably back to solving the original question! Get back in line!

    You are completely correct.

Ou is an idiot anyways... I have went back and forth with him before over some stupid article of his. I just quit reading the websites he is associated with: zdnet, techrepublic, etc. Now anytime someone says "I saw on techrepublic..." I quit listening. Look at his article and how he fights... Ou is just the internet's biggest troll.

I have an idea that might revolutionize TV advertising. I have no money to invest, and I really have no interest in trying to bring the idea to market. How can I document this idea so that others cannot patent it? Is there a GPL for ideas/patents?

Well, if you are signing up for a network management seminar, or something of the like, then you might also be the person that gets abuse@yourcompany.com, admin@yourcompany.com, it@yourcompany.com and a host of other generic email addresses. So perhaps you don't want them to even have your domain name?

  7. free music for life? on Apple Mulls Flat-Rate "Unlimited Music" Option · · Score: 2, Insightful

Then the owner can make unlimited music downloads from the iTunes Store for the life of the device. Once downloaded, the tracks are yours to keep, even if you get rid of the original iPod or iPhone. Crap. There is NO WAY record labels are going to let me download and keep forever every song I want. Wouldn't this bankrupt the music industry??? I buy an ipod for $200 and for the next 5-10 years I get free music? This must be only for playing on portable devices, ONLY. If they let you burn this to CD, it will never work.

  9. Re:And the actual cost? on Norwegian Broadcaster Evaluates BitTorrent Distribution Costs · · Score: 1

An interesting question is: Who pays for it? In the end, your ISP pays the cost. The ISP will of course calculate your monthly payments so that they will come out ahead, and if you use torrents a lot they might convince you to get a more expensive package with more bandwidth. So in the end you will end up paying the cost. I'll pay the extra $0.02 for each movie/CD/hour of tv I download, vs the cost associated with creating the physical DVD/CD/cable channel and getting it from Mexico/Taiwan/Time Warner to my house.

It is cheaper for the producers of content, and therefore they can charge less to compensate for our extra bandwith costs (and more - saving us money)!

Plus I like his response to questions about owning or "securing" his content:

If you want control of your content you need to lock it down in a vault and never show it to anyone. We gave up control of our content the day we started broadcasting.
Reminds me of computer security jokes "only secure computer is powered off, in a vault..."
