Wouldn't you want to know what the military has to say about these things? Even if they are cleaned up it's better then not knowing anything about it.
Personally I'd like to know how you would prepare for/get involved in something like this, besides taking some network security courses. And I'd definitely like as much information as I could get about it to determine whether I would actually be interested in pursuing it or not.
