You didn't mention the Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D movie. It was out recently, and I thought it was great, with Nick Fury played by Michael Hasselhoff (Knight Rider/Baywatch fame). It even involved an X-Men villain, Baron Von Strucker, and his son and daughter (twins).
In Europe I think it's part of the DVB standard for digital satellite and terrestrial broadcasts, I'm not sure it's 'open' but it's some standard anyway.
I don't really think the video rental stores will like self-destructing disks! At least no single store in my country, Malta, would be able to sustain such expensive media! Imagine them having to buy a disk per rental! They would all have to close down. This holds also for other parts of the world I'm sure.
I recall, somethime around 1987 or 1988 reading a book by Verne in a library, it was in French, it might have been this book as it had a fax machine in it for sure. It was about an advanced civilisation (in the future?) which did not recall that there had been a technically advanced civilisation prior to a great flood (or some equally large disaster). I don't recall if the flood/disaster was supposed to have happened in our future, or our past. They had faxes for sure, I recall when I read it that it would be a cool idea. There weren't any faxes around when I read it. Can anyone help trace what the name of this book is?
oops that should have been David Hasselhoff. He was called Michael in Knight Rider actually..
