I love Android, but don't trust Google that much with my most personal data (particularly email and contacts). So I don't use gmail for anything but app purchases or save any contact or other personal data on my Google account. I use Yahoo email (eventually I'll get my own mail server) which works just fine with the Android email client or I can use the Yahoo mail app. Funambol let's me sync all my contact data to a private, personal account that is not searched or mined. Funambol will sync all sorts of data on all sorts of devices, it's open source and free unless you need to sync huge data, like multimedia files. There's even a web interface for my data.
Finall!y!!! All the advantages of Android without the feeling Google's looking over my shoulder. (Well, they are probably looking at my browsing habits, etc.)
Not associated with the company, just overjoyed with this solution. I looked for something like this long and hard before finding it. I can't believe it's not a household name given how useful it is.
While I have no doubt Android is a increasing target, why do I get the sense this is hype from Android competitors and anti-virus software makers? Just don't install any strange apps without research and think about where your browsing and I don't anticipate problems. At least I've had none in the year or so I've been on Android phones.
I have 8800GTS 320MB SLIs. Like your 8600GT I think they are 90nm parts and hopefully are not affected. Other than acting like an effective space heater and sounding like industrial equipment my windows box with those 8800GTSs runs like a champ. It's actually an amazingly stable machine (yes even running windows (XP)) and spews out pixel very effectively. I run full 2560x1600 on many games with few hiccups.
I never thought I'd be glad to have older graphics card(s)! But I do look forward to the day I can replace those beasts with one cool running card. I'll be waiting a while for a reliable one it seems.

Some how Obama's FISA vote (as infuriating as that was)is somehow worse than the other 67 Senators that voted for it? He saw the writing on the wall and wanted to score points on (perceived) security. McCain saw the writing on the wall (knew it would pass) and skipped the vote like he has over 60% of the time.
I'm so disgusted with both right and left on matters constitutional I can hardly see straight, but lets keep perspective on who is leading the charge to destroy the constitution and who is simply unable to do anything about it due to a Bush veto and unprecedented levels of (Republican) filibusters.
SAN FRANCISCO/NEW YORK (Reuters) - Yahoo Inc (YHOO.O) is in advanced talks to carry Web search advertising from Google Inc (GOOG.O) as part of a search for potential alternatives to being bought by Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O), a source familiar with the discussions said on Wednesday.
Yahoo also is still in talks with Time Warner Inc's (TWX.N) AOL about a potential tie-up, the person said.
I'm not sure which I'd rather have them be in bed with. But somehow I think this is better than MS.

Seems interesting given the timing...
