The problem is that camera manufacturers charge a recurrent fee per month per camera ($6,000!!!) to cities. Cities need to do revenue from that. There are other methods less invasive and less expensive. I saw this one called the mole and is a cool concept. I know that some cities are using it to help reduce red light running and reduce recidivism.
