sounds like a god-complex
best way to deal with him is erode his responsibilities...if he really is a problem
another good tactic is to float ideas publicly that would otherwise attract his/her retrospective correctness...this will nearly always roadblock retrospective feedback as such individuals often rarely think ahead
i had a similar experience with an operator who was bullying everyone including the directors...aggressive emails, open ended questions etc...with sarcastic and open-ended emails/questions challenging the respective recipients. he was like a pole cat pissing everywhere
he did it twice to me within a month of me commencing the role as his line manager, so an open ended and sarcastic email was sent back to him. well he basically melted down over the three days i left him hanging - and sent me about 2000 words over his Saturday and Sunday, culminating in me asking him to call me. when he did i pointed out that i was reflecting two specific examples of his poor management and that he was welcome to make any further point if he had one.
hehe...i concur
