I agree with Coward. Think of it this way, if you go to an engineering school you will be trained to be a engineer and that's all. At a liberal arts school you will be trained to be anything you want.
The thing I really love about my liberal arts education is that I can intelligently discuss a wide range of topics with a wide range of people.
I went to a very small liberal arts school and graduated with a degree in religious studies. I am now, 26 years later, a network engineer at a large international bank.
As a post script, I applaud your effort to reach out to others in a forum such as this. It probably indicates that you'll do well no matter where you decide to go.
