Windows 7 is just Vista SP2 + 3 years newer hardware + drivers.
I am running Win 7 beta on my vista "ready" laptop. Before Win 7 I have used xp,ubuntu and os x in it and Win 7 is the fastest OS of them all.
So no new hardware is really needed.
I am really waiting for cheap tablets to arrive because most of the new GUI-features seems to be aimed for them.
