    Well if I recall the crew capsule is going to be bigger for the purpose of having room for 7 astronauts to be comfortable, and a bigger capsule adds a lot of weight.

    I don't know about other states, but in California adults are not required to wear helmets. That freedom hasn't caused everyone to start biking around here.

    I can see the milky way (if not very clearly), living in a town of 15K only 30 miles from a big city. You really don't have to be in the middle of nowhere for a decent sky, just get out of the big city.

    Well, the parliament rips the president all the time so it's no surprise the press is allowed to. You can side with one faction of conservatives over another. Pro-reform newspapers have been systematically shut down though. I wouldn't call that relative freedom, except maybe compared to Saudi Arabia.

    Any atheist will tell you there are very peaceful religions -- the Quakers, Buddhists, Jains, etc. We consider your religion potentially violent because of the facts of how it's been used through history and the present to promote violence, not simply because we disagree with it.

    There are plenty of Android phones for pre-paid, like mine, though perhaps Firefox OS ones will be slightly cheaper.

    The "I'll treat you like !@#$ until you stop treating me like !@#$" theory of life simply results in a whole lot more !@#$, most of it heaped on those who weren't offenders but are presumed guilty due to being part of the same group (i.e. companies or corporations), who in turn are jaded into heaving more !@#$ back at everyone.

    In the USA, you can own a gun and the child can get hold of it and shoot theirself and a jury won't convict the gun owner. So I can't imagine a conviction for driving a car, unless the driver was clearly reckless.

    The 8 people who use the particular targeted distro for the maximum allowed time will be very thankful for the driver, but it won't pay off in sales when there's bad publicity from the other 99% of linux users who hear it works and find it doesn't.

    A reasonable evaluation of the facts of evolution is inconsistent with the notion that it's a guided process. If a god were guiding evolution for the purpose of creating humans (who are the center of his universe -- seems more like god was invented to worship people than the reverse), he did an awful job of it.

    The bottom half doesn't get the earned income tax credit -- only the extremely poor (or those with lots of kids) get that. Most of the bottom half pays federal income tax as well. Individuals making $15K/yr are most definitely paying federal income tax, for example, and are not getting the EIC.

    What if we don't agree with any of the third (and fourth, fifth, etc) parties on everything either? It's impossible to agree with a party on everything, and all of them have some different types of evil in their platform. Unless you vote for yourself, you're compromising.

    If bad behavior does in fact happen much more often in Las Vegas, it makes perfect sense to move the event away from Las Vegas, assuming there's no compelling reason it's held there. Saying that we must not give in and have to fix Vegas instead is like demanding an event be held in Kabul because to move it somewhere safer would be giving the terrorists validation. One sometimes has to be realistic and control what can be controlled instead of overreaching..
