  1. Forget colonization on Mars Soil Appears To Be Able To Sustain Life · · Score: 1

When they confirm life on Mars (bacteria most likely), it'll immediately be placed on the endangered species list since it'll be so rare in our solar system.

Then the Martian environment will be classified as a "pristine wilderness" that cannot be farmed, developed, colonized or terra-formed in any way due to the "danger" such activity would pose to the peaceful and beautiful microbes of the Martian planet.

Oh well, not the first time science was hi-jacked and ground to a halt by the ignorant "belief" of someone with more political motivation than knowledge - but it could very well be the last.

  3. Party pooper on Barack Obama Wins Democratic Nomination · · Score: 1

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you hard & soft core Dems & Reps for continuing to deomonstrate how this 2-party system is the real problem with American politics.
Solving problems? Making change? Uniting? Overcoming? Pulling out? Staying the course?

These are very entertaining notions coming from people who put their party first (and in some cases very disturbing social theories) and America second.

Oh yeah, a wide network of linked P2P servers. Simple for every user, just pop on and your desktop is anywhere or everywhere and all you have to do is pay someone else a monthly fee (that they will dictate) and they will take care of you (like our government?) and no one will ever try to break it (like our enemies) or hack your grandma's files (like some young punk with too much time on his hands) and the world will be all spiffy and clean and well ordered. Of course all participants will be well behaved and we'll all be happy and the yoke of M$ will be lifted and the angels will sings.... Your notion is analogous to public mass-transit and will work in about the same manner.

  5. Re:What's the draw? on Guillermo del Toro Will Direct "The Hobbit" · · Score: 1

Honest question. With so much actual literature out there, what's the fascination with the second rate fantasy of Tolkein? I've a better question...why this hack? I can name a dozen BETTER directors than this sellout. Was it half-off day down at the director's guild? Well, I guess he's creating the popular images and towing the correct party lines, eh comrade?
