I have always had very good luck with Sun servers that have been refurbished at anysystem.com. The "Ugly Duckling" specials are great as I really don't care what they look like as long as they work. Great Sun hardware at literaly a fraction of the price sounds like a qimick, but I've never had an issue.
I have a friend who wrote an amazing science fiction book, yet has had a very hard time getting it published. I believe it's not the authors or the lack of ideas. It's the publishers loosing touch with non-reality
It's amazing how people worry about this sort of thing. Yes, it's interesting to know, but all the people who worry about it is really funny. Think about that door you just opened, that bus seat you sat on. Take even a brand new car, what about the greasy-plumbers-crack guy working on the assembly line who just installed your steering wheel, that your probably going to kiss when you get your car. Fact is, life is full of germs, thankfully we can't see most of them.
I've used a lot of products like this. However I find pfSense a lot better.

These people are supposed to be working! If I got caught on slashdot at work I'd be fired..... Uh-oh
