Currently, my suggestion is Wolvix (wolvix.org) from Norway - lightweight distribution which uses Xfce and Fluxbox. It has nice wireless and multimedia support and a control panel inspired by that of the now-dead Libranet.
The light version, Wolvix Cub, uses Abiword, Sylpheed, Audacious and other lightweight applications to keep it snappy, and it works.
