It still is the "free encyclopedia anyone can edit," nothing has changed. You miss the point of "free" and "open" it doesnt mean that everything one puts will stay there. People make mistakes, people distort the truth, and people Lie. Others, have to correct these errors. If one person "cries wolf" a lot, you're simply not going to listen to them. This is all that it is. If someone had a history of not telling the truth, why would you trust them?
Open Source Projects are not required to support any users, unless they have agreed to. That isn't to say that they should NOT go about supporting users, and in fact, if they did not, the FOSS world would not be as successful. Most projects do support their user base, and do it very well, but, of course, are not required. An author of a book is no more required to help people comprehend their words than a driver writer is to help people use their code. But we all help each other out because its better that way.
Again, I see people not certain about "free" so I will again try to clarify the differences I understand in the licenses.
The BSD license grants you (the recipient) the ability to do what ever you want with what you get.
The GPL licenses ensures that others will be granted the same rights as you (modify, redistribute, etc)
Which is more "free" is up to you. A paradox is reached for the lack of well defined terms.
For Example, Lets say we live in a free society, if that means we are able to do whatever-the-fuck-we-want then I could kill you, but, that would have taken away your freedom (which is "bad"). But if the law prevents me from killing you, then my freedom is taken away because I can't do what I want (which is "bad").
As there is no real solution to this, we humans attempt to draw the line based upon our own experience and beliefs. The GPL errs to one side and the BSD to the other.
My man page for getfacl says may 2000, which means that its been out long before that. Sorry mark, at least 8 years too late, but more like 38 (hell thats older than you)!
This sounds exactly like an ACL which have been around for awhile.
I have many different data elements, I want to only certain people or certain groups, or combinations there of to be able to access it. Hmm, what else could that be? Oh, I know. MySQL can do that do with its permissions table, file systems can do that with ACLs, Apache can do that, hell, if the "data elements" were sockets or ports, even IPTables could do that.
PRIOR ART! anyone know what the copyright date of getfacl was?

YES. We need more trains.
This pisses me off. Why can't we have FOSS technology to do it. With silverlight only some people can watch it. With FOSS technology everyone can.

haha. I was giving his "patent" too much scope and credit.
