Well, I've found that a tri-band world phone (readily available in the States) and a laptop work wonders -- just connect and go! (: I've never had problems connecting (then again, I tend to try connecting closer to port -- it's not often I need to connect in the middle of the ocean!).
Seems that back doors are the rage again. There was an article on internetnews.com about back doors in some shopping cart software that could allow a hacker complete control of the server it's installed on.
if you are a 5.0 user, and you have Bring Your Own Access to get onto aol, you can't use the internet. it's a bug they know about, but don't care about. they have declared that not enough users are byoa, therefore they aren't going to fix it.
what does this mean? it means that if you use aol as your internet connection (and god alone knows why anyone would), you're s.o.l. it won't connect to the net -- you have to go outside aol for that.
which raises the question: WHY would you have aol???
I have decided that if you put Keanu Reeves and Catherine zeta-Jones in a movie together, they would create a black hole of stupidity. Hell, just put 'em in a room together! now... who else could we fit in that room??
We complain incessently about the lack of good leadership in this country. And we complain about the fact that there are only two "registered" parties. Who do you think controls these things? The people? Maybe. But not really. For now, elected officials make the decisions. Why? We let them. Yes, we have a democratic system. (Federal really, but that's another posting.) Unless we are willing to make change, by DEMANDING change, en masse, nothing will ever happen. You can complain all you like. Until people actually take a stand. Stand up for what you believe in. It's the only way to make a difference. And if you want a president who will effectively help all interest groups (not likely, but a nice dream), you have to find her/him and VOTE for that person.
