Apparently the fact that comics and graphic novels come pre-storyboarded is a major selling-point. Hollywood's collective imagination must be completely bankrupt for it to have come to this.
They need small teams, small budgets, imaginative directors, and brilliant writers. I believe that when people have to make do with less it forces the creativity like nothing else. The people are out there. Foster them.
Oh yeah, they need good actors, too, but they are relatively common.:)
