There is already one way to prevent this problem, the qizmo proxy. This is the best proxy for QuakeWorld and it checks the executable file for crc and of my knoledge it's the only proxy that hasn't got hacked. It has also a whole bunch of other great features, many anticheat features but many other great features that makes quake more comfortable. It's free if you just want to use it as a regular proxy, but if you like to have the advanced features you'll have to pay 20$ i think, but i can ensyre you that it's worth it.
