There is a simple solution that we consumers can implement, and it doens't involve suing anyone. Don't buy crappy software. I use all free software at home, not because I'm poor or a communist, but because I rarely see software that's worth paying money for, and when I do, there's also free software that does the same thing, if you're willing to live without bells and whistles. For example, I've discovered that almost everything I want to use MS Word for, I can use "vi" for instead. And VI is much more reliable.
When paypall was new, I had to choose between PayPall and Kagi to give some money to http://www.dyndns.org. I searched for comments, good or bad, on both, and found very little. Since PayPall was new, that didn't surprise me. But Kagi has been around for a very long time, and it's used by quite a few vendors, and I haven't seen any complaints. That must mean something.:-)
