I don't know about them getting easier, but two years ago I got an A* in my GCSEs with zero revision outside of class and I'm certainly not a genius. Based on that I'd have to say they are pretty easy.
A levels have been more difficult, though I've got an A in all my current modules (final result coming in August) - but they were after doing plenty of revision.
