Their main opposition, the Liberal Party, doesn't have the money or leadership to fight an election, so they'll pretty much agree to anything in order to dodge one. The Conservatives will find a way to make the vote a matter of confidence, the Liberals will fold, and that will be that.
Give the Liberals a break. If the polls are the same as they were in the 2006 election, why force Canadians to spend over $300 million for an election that will land us in the same boat?
Besides, all of these scandals coming to light are icing on the cake for us progressives. Harper never expected to be in power for so long and his Republican-style branding of government and empty promises is beginning to lose its lustre.
