I care about two things in my browser - speed and ad blocking. I usually use Firefox 3.0.4. I have just installed Maxthon: noticeably slower, and the adblock feature leaves traces of where the ads were. I'm trying Opera next.

The markets reaction has always been "Wait till it is cheaper" on the assumption that all technology gets cheaper - ignoring the fact that there is a physical constraint on what you must do to get into orbit. The required delta-V isn't going to change just because it would be financially efficient for it to do so."
A space elevator will be a lot cheaper. Cheaper alternatives that don't exist yet are called "inventions".
There are always new ways to skin a cat. Especially if there is a good economic incentive.
