Ok, maybe not... But I'm still in shock from this. I wasn't going to post something because I know it will turn into a zealous, flaming rant but now I have something else to go along with it. How do we convince people (by this I mean 'normal people' as in my parents) that this s a bad thing? When I phoned my parents today and told them about this they said something I would never have expected: What's the big deal?

No matter what I said, they didn't seem to realize what was happening with this. I was accused of being 'out to get' M$ (which I am, but it doesn't mean I'm wrong) and I wonder what it will take before people realize what is happening.

One of the interesting things about this is that my mom said if it is really this bad, people just won't buy M$ products out there. It has to start somewhere, and my parents aren't going to be the place to start. Think I'll buy Penguin Computing/VA Linux computers instead of Dell now...

    -Elendale (that wasn't too bad...)

Ack! I can't resist! This sucks. Really, really badly. As one who frequently dual-boots (required for me unfortunately) this is the end of my Windows upgrading. No longer will my computer come with the latest version (admittedly, not free) but any new 'breaking of software' that happens will cause me great trouble. I might end up protesting even if i'm all alone!

They had so much stuff but stopped right before they did anything with it. Think of the Matrix stopping right after Neo is told he's 'not the one'. Yeah. I'll quit now.

If I remember correctly, Slayers gives it a nod in one of their episodes... can't remember exactly tho...

Tenchi Muyo is funny, very complex if you actually want to take the time to figure it out (the three 'goddesses', Ryoko's gems, etc)
Ghost in the shell is good stuff. Could have brought anime to the US, but unfortunately Pokemon&Co. are doing it instead.
Along those same lines, Princess Mononoke is one of the best movies I've seen (next to Matrix).
Slayers is hilarious. All the old D&D tricks abused, plus the characters are freaks :)
El Hazard (or however its spelled) is like Tenchi but not really. Lots of wierd humor and wierd characters, not to mention the fact that I know the real life Jinnai (yes, there is one).
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a good one too. Wierd plot and lotsa angst, plus giant robots destroying stuff.

Don't quite think that is what he said. I'm all for a war without a loss of life on our side, but I also want to make sure we do everything in our power to make sure we protect who we want to protect. We started the war not to save our lives, but to save the lives of ethnic minorities who had little to no say in Kosovo and elsewhere then took our sweet time about it, letting bastard dictators kill innocent people. War cannot become a commodity excersise where cannot justify the loss of our lives as we kill others.

In addition to that, it is a short read. I believe I finished it in one high school day during my free periods (stolen from a class that was reading it at that time) so you can't complain about that. Besides that, we can look real smart when we tell censorship bastards to go read Farhenheit 451 to learn why we are so angry.
Note: this is not the hollywood-ized, cheap, lame Sci-fi that gets panned (rightly so) for lack of purpose and crappy overall effect that many of Bradbury's works have been turned into.
