It seems these laws are quickly setting us down a path where EVERYTHING is copyrighted. Will there come a time when you can't even say a simple sentence like, "This computer is really good." without getting government hounds running after you cause of copyright infringement???
I think this just shows you how much the computer industry has changed. In the '80s t was all about who had the better technology. The company who spent more money on R&D would win customers. Now today it seems that companies are worrying more about politics than developing actual companies. MS launching a huge marketing blitz is just an exmaple of how the market changed. If Win2k was so good would MS really need that big of a campaign? They are all ready a well established brand! Linux is trying to put real sofftware developement back into the industry but will it ever revert back? Only time will tell.
I believe that such a discovery as this, the ability to turn off genes is quite profound. The most obvious use if for diseases such as cancer, hemophilia, ect. ect. At first this is what turning off genes will be used for. But people will find other uses(i.e. changing their child's looks) Although most genetic 'defects' could probably be erased from the gene pool through this 'turning off' of genes, there lies a greater danger. what if some doctor/terrorists turn off the gene for something like sanity to wreak havoc on the world. this gives doctor amazing power over people!!! just food for thought.
the only idiot here is u. u dont need 4 years of college to program. i am forteen and can program basic stuff in C++ and PERL. the governement is just like any other entity: It looks out for their self interests not ours of the people. try speaking proper american/english too
