Yeah: I bet Dell/HP are behind it so they can improve HW sales. ;)

  2. Let the flame wars begin on Apple Quietly Recommends Antivirus Software For Macs · · Score: 5, Insightful

Yes Apples can get malware (general term) if you are a complete dumb ass. Until self-propagating zero-interaction attacks appear, leave me alone.

The debt will NEVER get addressed until entitlements are reduced. That or they call one of the debt reduction services you here about on the radio.

  5. Past History on Discuss the US Presidential Election & the Economy · · Score: 1

I strongly believe past history of the candidates is a stronger reflection of how they will act as a president than ANYTHING they have said in the past two years. I tiger is a tiger and will not change. Case-in-point. Obama has in the past voiced some very socialist-leaning ideas. In his campaign this has been downplayed, or almost hidden. Then he tells "Joe the plumber" he wants to spread the wealth around. Ooops. Give the people Bread and Circuses and they will vote you in every time.

  6. I can't take it anymore on Obama & McCain Conflicting On Net Neutrality · · Score: 1

Please, stop with politics. With all the radio and TV adds, I just can't take it anymore. Just send the 25% undecided their share of the campaign money, the highest amount wins. The older I get the more cynical I become.

  7. Go TiVo on TiVo Wins Appeal On Patents For Pause, Ffwd, Rwd · · Score: 3, Informative

As someone who still owns two Tivo's (not being used presently), this is a good day for them. At least they will get a bit of cash. Unfortunately my move to DirecTV, and TiVo's change of focus to Cable and OTA only, I have been forced to use the DirecTV DVRs. While adequate, other DVRs are in NO WAY as feature complete.

  9. So what's new on Software Spots Spin In Political Speeches · · Score: 0, Troll

"The article goes on to analyze the amount of spin in each of the candidates running for president, and the results are that Obama spins the most." I am shocked.

  10. What I miss .. on Picasa Rolls Out 3.0 — Now With Facial Recognition · · Score: 1

..about moving to mac land is the lack of a Picasa variant native to os x. I know, I know, there is iPhoto, Aperture, etc. But what Picasa did so well was scan my server for any additions/deletions of photos. It was brainless. Something I still cannot believe has been implemented in the mac photo programs.

  11. Re:Another Solution to Self Signing? on Firefox SSL-Certificate Debate Rages On · · Score: 1

Exactly: My company has a Groupwise email gateway. I use a self-signed cert simply because I do not see the pay off for buying a cert. My users know what is up, so it is not a big deal.

  12. Re:HIPAA says no privacy on EFF Warns That Email Privacy Is In Jeopardy · · Score: 2, Interesting

Yes, I agree with you, but letters have a chain of custody (sort of). You can't sniff a letter in the mail carrier's bag. You can steal it and later return it after you have steamed it open, but you don't have to even "steam open" email.

  13. HIPAA says no privacy on EFF Warns That Email Privacy Is In Jeopardy · · Score: 5, Interesting

Working in the health care field as an IT admin exposes me to lots of HIPAA crap. One thing you learn on day one is that EMAIL IS NOT SECURE. And if it is not secure then considered public. I have no expectation that email is private UNLESS IT IS SECURE. This is why emailing of patient data is forbidden. It would sure make life easier if it were.

You can always ask for something and be given it. Warrants are only needed to forcibly remove an article.
